As a woman born into a man's body, I had to learn incredibly quickly that our system isn't built for everyone. From getting a full time job in high school to pay for my AP courses and debate tournaments, to being put on year long waitlists for urgent medical needs, to having to move across country in order to find a home where I could be who I was, my life path made a fact obvious to me: if Americans can't see that we're more alike than we are different, we'll never be able to put our effort together to solve the urgent problems threatening the American dream.
